Serving Our Community

St. Boniface Catholic Church has served the people of St. Joseph Island since its founding in 1906. From the earliest days, parishioners worked together, supported one another through hardship, and reached out to neighbours in times of need. Life on the Island in the early 1900s was often difficult — families faced long winters, limited resources, and the challenges of rural living , yet the parish community remained steadfast in its commitment to generosity, compassion, and mutual care.

During this anniversary year, 2026, parishioners of St. Boniface are making a special effort to continue this long tradition of service by donating a minimum of 120 non‑perishable food items and toiletries to the St. Joseph Island Food Bank. In 2025, the Food Bank recorded over 500 visits, highlighting the ongoing need within our community.

We shine a special light on this initiative during our Parish Social, held every third Sunday of the month. Parishioners gather for fellowship and light refreshments, and remember those in need by bringing their donation , a simple, meaningful way to honour our past and serve our neighbours today.
